Today was an up and down day for Molly C. and Carol Luttmer. When we began racing it was quite windy, 20-25 knots with some good sized waves.
Carol and I decided to start at the pin and work left. We won the pin!!!! We continued for a few minutes with excellent speed and then tacked and crossed the whole fleet except one boat. We did another hitch to protect the left, but the extra tacks cost us a lot and we rounded the windward mark in 15th place. We passed a few boats on the top reach and the beginning of the run, but we had a sketchy gybe, filling our boat with water. Luckily, we did not flip but a lot boats passed us. We finished the race in 26th place.
After the first race we made an adjustment to our set up. We went to check our spinnaker halyard and it was caught around the jib halyard. We spent a long time trying to fix it before we had to flip the boat and untie the spinnaker halyard. After this all happened we had no spinnaker and missed the start so we had to retire for the day. The wind picked up in the second race with four boats breaking their masts. Only 21 of the 38 boats finished the second race.

Tomorrow the wind is supposed to shift around and still be very windy. Our boat is ready to go and Carol and I are excited for another windy day of racing.
