Team Molly had a tough last two days of the event. A cold front came in on Friday, causing the wind to come from the opposite direction from every other day we have seen.
On the second to last day, we were postponed on the water for a few hours while the race committee figured out how to set up the race course in the different wind direction. During the first beat we struggled to get to either side of the race course and rounded the windward mark in 25th place. On the downwind, we tried to get into some pressure but the shift was more important and we lost some boats. We finished the race in 31st place. This dropped us from 8th place overall to 15th place. Thus, we missed qualifying for the medal race (the top ten boats race separately on the last day).
On the last day, the wind quickly switched around to the normal direction right before our start time and was building during our entire race. We had an okay start, but we did not chose a good time to tack onto port to make our way right. We finished the race in 10th place.

We sailed well in very difficult conditions. Furthermore, our speed was good both upwind and downwind. We would like to thank Richard Feeny for coaching us. His opinions about the race course and our decision making were very valuable and allowed us to have our best event yet.
We are now heading back to the United States to do some coaching and sailing on bigger boats for the rest of the summer.
