470 World Championships- Day 3
Rizhao, China
Today was a much shorter day, yet it was still very productive. We
learned about how to sail the boat better and adjustments to make to
the boat in bigger breeze with large lulls. It was a quite a bit
windier then the previous days. By the starting line it was about
18-20 knots, but near the windward mark it was about 11 knots. There
was only one race scheduled for today. We went upwind a couple times
with our American teammates and the US Sailing Coach, making a few
adjustments to the boat. We went to look at our last adjustment when
our boom snapped in half and we were unable to race. Attached is a
photo of the damage.
Our generous teammates, Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving, loaned
us their extra boom for the regatta. We got it all rigged and
measured in. So we are all set to race tomorrow. The fleet will be
split into a gold and silver fleet and we will be racing in the silver
fleet. Hopefully, this will give us an opportunity to do well in our
fleet.
We look forward to getting back on the racecourse tomorrow.
