US Olympic Trials- Long Beach, CA- Day 5
Today was an okay day for Team Molly. There was no wind all morning; we were postponed on the water for about two hours. We began racing in about 5 knots of wind and increased to a max of 8 knots in the second race. The direction of the wind was oscillating all day.
The first race we had a pretty good start but got out of phase with the windshifts soon after the start and struggled to get back in phase. We rounded the windward mark in 10th place. We had a good run and moved up to 9th place. Our downwind speed was good in the race but we struggled to make good decisions with the wind shifts.
The second race, we sailed a solid race. We had another pretty good start and stayed in phase pretty well but did not chose very good lanes. We should have rounded the windward mark in 6th, but we got on the starboard layline too early and rounded 9th. We finished the race in 8th place.
