speed in the chop and 7-10 knots of wind. We also did not have great starts. The first race, we had an okay start. We tried to get in phase in the oscillating breeze as best we could with an average start. We had difficulty holding lanes with our boat speed. Nevertheless, our downwind boatspeed was still pretty good. We were able to pass some boats downwind. We finished the race in 22nd place. After we finished, we reassesed our boat set up. We made a few changes. It was very hard to know what to do with out a coach to point us in the right direction. After we made some changes, the boat felt a lot better. Unfortunately, the second start we were overearly and had to restart the race. Our boat speed still was not that good, making it diffcult to pass boats. We thought the breeze was going to build throughout the race, but it stayed the same velocity and continued oscillating. We finished the race 25th; this will be our discard race. Once again we looked at how our boat was set up and how we were sailing it. We made a few more changes for the last race. We had an okay start but were not able to hold our lane off of the starting line. This once again put us behind from the start. We kept our head in the race as the breeze died and passed boats on the downwind legs. We finished the race 20th. Although yesterday was a tough day, there were some positives. Our downwind speed is constantly improving. Sailing with Amanda/ Sarah and Lenka/ Lenka, two of the fastest downwind boats in the World, has definitely helped us. Furthermore, we are learning how to make changes to our set up when our speed is off. Without a coach the learning process is more difficult and sometimes a little frustrating, but we are moving in the right direction. We are optimistic about another day of racing today. We are currently in 44th place overall, with one more race in the qualification series.
