Yesterday was a long day on the water for Team Molly. We did the last
qualification race in the morning and then went back out on the water
to do two final races in the afternoon. The first race was light and
choppy, with an oscillating breeze. The second two races the wind
increased along with the waves, making for some exciting racing.
The first race we started down at the pin, trying to go left. We were
able to tack and cross most of the fleet on a left shift after the
start. However, we did not protect the left side of the course enough
as the wind continued to shift left. Furthermore, our speed is still
not as good as the top boats. We finished the race 22nd. We finished
the qualification series in 43rd place, putting us in the silver
fleet.
Our first race in the silver fleet, we had a pretty good start. The
wind quickly increased throughout the race to 15-18 knots. We were
not set up correctly for the changing conditions. We made some changes
during the race, but still struggled a bit. We were still able to pass
boats downwind. We finished the race in 8th place.
By the last race of the day, the wind had increased to 20+ knots, with
really large waves. We had a great start and started making our way to
the left side of the course. We were doing well, until Molly O. gotten
fully taken out by a wave. She went flying into the boat and we
flipped over. After a quick recovery, we were back in the race. We
stayed focused and continued passing boats the whole race. We finished
the race in 14th place.
We are currently in 14th place overall in the silver fleet. For

We have five more races over the next three days, with two scheduled
for today. We still have an opportunity to move up in the scores and
we are looking forward to another day of racing.
